Yesterday while i was doing some genealogy work, i found one of my 11th great grandmothers. Her name was Bethia Hopkins. She married Samuel Stocking in Connecticut. I think this is really neat because Bethia has been on my favorite names list for quite some time. Bethia can be a variation of the Hebrew Bithia meaning "daughter (worshiper) of Jehovah or from the Scottish Beathag meaning "Life".
I'm in LOVE with granny stripes! They're so easy to do, and work up pretty quickly too. I've got 3 started for various friends/family. I have some of the yarn for each blanket, not all of it, which is why i'm not finishing one before starting the other.
A. is cream, bright blue & purple. I don't have a pic of this one yet.
B. is white alternating with color. I'm probably going to stick with dark colors. I like how they pop against the white.
C. is brown alternating with pastels to match baby's nursery.
B & C aren't finding out the gender of the baby, so they're gender neutral. A is already here and a girl.
It's been such a mild winter this year...hardly any snow at all. We finally got our 2nd snow storm of the year yesterday. I think we got between 6 & 8 inches. Being in Upstate NY, that isn't much at all, but more than we've gotten all winter. These were taken in the morning before it had stopped snowing. Big pup LOVES snow!
I've been doing a lot of thinking. I *need* to learn to say NO, for my own sanity. This is starting to be too much. I'm starting to not enjoy my crafting anymore because i feel overwhelmed and rushed. I also have only made myself 1 thing in almost 2 years. After i get done what is already on my list for people i'm not starting anything else for anyone else but me. Sorry if that sounds selfish, but it's wearing me down. That list includes this years Xmas gifts.
We're going to Granny's for Easter this year! I can't wait. I've started a shawl for her. I think she'll like it.
I've also got some things in progress and finished some things. I won't do pics of the squares for niece's blanket so far because there is over 20 and i haven't put them together yet.
