Caring for Your Introvert

I came across this article recently, and it's so *right*. I wish i had seen this years ago when it first came out, I think everyone needs to read this article because there is a good chance *everyone* has an introvert in their life. Being alone isn't a want, it's a NEED. People need to understand this. We aren't mad at you if we're not talking, there is *nothing* wrong with us! It's how we were made, we can't change it!

Do you know someone who needs hours alone every day? Who loves quiet conversations about feelings or ideas, and can give a dynamite presentation to a big audience, but seems awkward in groups and maladroit at small talk? Who has to be dragged to parties and then needs the rest of the day to recuperate? Who growls or scowls or grunts or winces when accosted with pleasantries by people who are just trying to be nice?

If so, do you tell this person he is "too serious," or ask if he is okay? Regard him as aloof, arrogant, rude? Redouble your efforts to draw him out?

The rest of the article can be found at: http://www.theatlantic.com/doc/200303/rauch

It really is a GREAT read! I encourage you all to take a few minutes to read through it.

I cut my hair!!

I cut my hair! Well...my sister did. She cut about 10-12 inches off. I'm donating it to Pink Heart Funds. Here is a (bad) photo after it was cut.

Please PRAY for a mama friend of mine!

She has 10 children, a husband and is currently 18 weeks pregnant with #11, and was recently diagnosed with advanced lung cancer. She needs prayer! Here is the most recent update:

"Mary had fluid building around her heart and they performed an operation to drain that liquid. The doctors say there is nothing they can do to stop the cancer. They are trying to keep Mary alive for seven more weeks so her baby can be delivered. Mary, while heavily sedated, is alert at times; while she cannot talk because of the respirator, she does write a few words down and responds to questions by moving or squeezing her hand. Late last night the Lord gave me the opportunity to hear each of her kids tell her good night, I love you, come home soon… as Josue held the phone to her ear."

Her name is Mary Anaya and her husband is Josue. Their friend from here will be updating when she gets more information.

UPDATE 10/21: The baby passed away yesterday and they have taken Mary off of the respirator.

UPDATE 10/21 evening: Mary has passed away. Please continue to keep her family in your prayers.

My first and second ever wrap back carry!

This is T, the 11mo i watch while his mom works sometimes. The 1st time it was a bit low and loose, so it wasn't as comfy (he was asleep in 5 minutes though!). The 2nd time (last night), i was able to get him higher and tighter so it was much more comfy and i was able to do all of the dishes! Please excuse my face in a few of the photos..i'm not very photogenic .

1st back carry. You can see how it's a bit loose.

2nd. Last night. You can see how it's tighter.

Hair trim

I trimmed my hair last night. As soon as i find my camera cord, i will post before and after pics. It looks pretty good. The sides are a bit shorter than the back but they were already shorter...i guess they just grow slower. :D I haven't trimmed my hair in years, so it definitely needed a trim. I'll edit with pics a bit later on.

So you can see i cut just a bit off. And the sides are shorter, but they were like that before so i didn't really cut much from there. I usually wear it up anyway, so you can't really tell. I don't think it looks *too* bad hehe. And i didn't mean to cut in a straight line..i just randomly cut curls lol.

Eek!

Sorry i've been neglecting you! It hasn't been on purpose! Lots has gone on since i last posted. I've moved yet again, in with my sister, brother and sis' boyfriend 4 hours away from where i was before. (if i still haven't given you my new address and you want it, let me know). There was so much drama over there...i cane to visit my sister for a few weeks and basically got kicked out..don't ask me why..i don't know. But it was for the best...as i wanted to live here anyway, there is no drama here and it's more peaceful..ie: no people fighting. I didn't feel wanted there anyway. Then a few weeks back there was some drama and i said that N (formerly SIL) was a bad mother. Which if you leave your kids sitting in their dirty diapers until you feel like changing them (it was often until they were sagging...a lot or until they poo'd), you are a bad mother. (that's just one example..). Anyway, that made them tell me that im not allowed around nephews anymore. That makes me sad, as i miss them a lot and i haven't even seen the baby in person (he was born May 13th), but i need the toxic people out of my life. (Nephews parents and some other people over there). It was a long time coming, and i don't feel that bad anymore, except that i do miss my nephews. I'm just tired of the drama lovers and liars over there. After i left, they've been spreading lies about me...telling my grandparents that i've been talking trash about them..thankfully my aunt set them straight. I wouldn't even have known about it if she didn't tell me what was going on. (I had deleted them off of my myspace weeks ago). Anyway, i hope that made some kind of sense. Hopefully i'll keep updating this more often!

Oatmeal Pancakes

A friend sent me this recipe and said it was really good, so i thought i'd share. When i get the chance to make these, i may add cinnamon to the batter. I think they'd also be really good with sliced fruit/berries, granola and honey on top!

1 1/2 cups rolled oats
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup skim milk (or whatever you use)
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 egg
1tbsp butter (for the pan)

Whirl the oats in a electric blender or food processor until oats are the consistancy of flour. Combing the dry ingredients in a large bowl. Combine wet ingredients in another bowl (or the measuring cup). Combine the two together and mix until just moist. Heat iron skillet/pan/griddle. Melt the butter and make sure its all coated (or use cooking spray). Use about 3tbsp for each pancake. Cook on med heat, flipping the pancakes when the bottoms are golden and the tops have little bubbles. Continue cooking until the other sides are golden and pancakes are done. Enjoy!
